National Opportunity Officer

Var Shankar grew up in a diplomatic family posted to several different countries, including Hungary, Zambia, India, Saudi Arabia, and Canada. His childhood abroad strongly influenced his interest in and knowledge of foreign affairs. He currently attends Duke University on the prestigious Angier B. Duke scholarship. He is President of Duke Moot Court and serves on the Honor Council. In 2007, Var and three of his close friends taught a half-credit course on intergenerational ethics. The students in the class included Duke undergraduates and retired citizens with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. As an active member of College Outreach, Var advises high potential students.
